I like to borrow a quote (and tweak it a bit) from C.S. Lewis to explain how the indelible power of birth moves me:

"I believe in birth as I believe the sun has risen.  Not because I see it, but because by it I see everything else"

Just as the moon's energy pulls us towards her, I have been drawn to the doula profession through many paths.

I believe birth is the most important process on our planet and I am quite sure its transformative ways hold the key to healing and peace for our world. Birthing women possess a delicate and immense power within themselves. I am humbled and honored to be a witness to this loving power as it unfolds during labor and birth.

During my daughter's birth, I discovered profound strength and empowerment and was overwhelmed with a sea of lessons. My birth team (midwife and doulas) cared for and encouraged me in immeasurable ways. For the first time, I experienced my authentic self. Inspired, I wanted to share this experience, and my passion, with others. As a doula, I am proud to be able to support a woman and her loved ones as they travel the vast, life-changing, life-giving journey of birth together.

Truly, I only offer the comfort of advice, physical and emotional support, and the combination of practical and "heart"  knowledge. It is the birthing woman that holds the most important, inherent wisdom: that her body and her baby are perfect.  My trust in a woman's ability, and in birth,  is unwavering.

I am a grateful observer, a forever student, of the divine dance of birth. Through my path as a doula, I am blessed to have found my authentic self once again.
